Even a gloomy day can be turned around by a bold pattern! This Fashionista brought out this classic tropical print even on a day when the sun was non-existent, proving that tropical prints are taking over the summer yet again. This tropical trend was a huge hit last summer. This explosion of color and chaotic mix of florals is refreshing and helps us enjoy the hot season despite all of the bipolar weather. With May-mester coming to an end and the start of summer classes among us, there’s only one way to make this heat bearable: maxing out your most fashion-forward looks!
I was really inspired by how this Fashionista balanced out this fauna of Hawaiian flower print shoes with a simple pair of ripped blue jeans and a basic white top that falls effortlessly off her shoulder. This is what I call a perfect, warm weather ensemble! Every time I see this tropical pattern I can’t help but think of Carmen Miranda, the woman who inspired dozens of women to put fruit on their heads. We can also give thanks to Dolce&Gabbana for bringing back this “chica chica boom chic” moment.
This style of print can be both masculine and feminine depending on how you wear it. It can be worn however you please (from head-to-toe, if you’re feeling really wild!), but I enjoyed how this Fashionista kept her accessories to a minimum. She is simply threw on a gold necklace and a black leather backpack to add edge.
How To: If you’re giving this trend a try for the first time, definitely don’t pile too much on and stick to plain pastels. Go with simple clothing options and jewelry so that you don’t overstep fashion boundaries and risk looking tacky. However, if you have funky pieces you want to attribute, go for it!
