ALL IN THE DETAILS: Here's the Short Story

Happy first weekend of summer Fashionistas! Although I spent mine indoors all weekend, I hope you all got out and enjoyed it. Another rainy afternoon spent cuddling on the couch, grocery shopping and attending numerous graduation parties. As Fashionistas it’s sometimes hard to find inspiration on how to take the trends and make them our own. So I tend to look and see how others wear it their way, hoping that will spark ideas for my own closet!

Lately, I have been trying to figure out where to fit printed shorts into my repertoire. Now the thing I love most about the printed shorts trend is it can add just enough flare and detail to your outfit, that it completes the look nicely. They are fun, can be worn casually or can be dressed up and these shorts should definitely be added to your summer wardrobe ASAP!

Spotted party hopping herself this rainy weekend, this Fashionista has executed this trend perfectly! (Her whole look, minus her accessories, comes from Lilly Pulitzer!). The print on the shorts is whimsical, fun and perfect for a backyard barbecue. Not to mention the scalloped trim, it adds just the right amount of class to put a preppy spin on this classic look. I love how this Fashionista styled her look with a plain tank on top. This draws more attention to her shorts, which is the main focus of the look. Even though the day was gloomy she spiced it up by pairing her look with these adorable rainboots, that are the perfect height for summer. They come from an awesome website called Red Dress Boutique, be sure to check it out! They also add a fun pop of color and tie the entire look together nicely.

How To: You shouldn’t be nervous to try this trend. Start small and maybe try a short with a printed trim or accent on the pockets. Or try something neutral like seer-sucker or polka dots! And to simplify a short with a busy and bright print take a cue from our Fashionista. Pair it with something subtle and simple on the top! Stick to the basics like black and white. A piece of advice, don’t be afraid to take style risks everyday. Embrace these new trends in your own way.
