ALL IN THE DETAILS: High-rise and Shine

As we all know, history tends to repeat itself and fashion is no exception. High-waisted garments first became a trend in the 1960s when teenagers started wearing high-waisted Levi Brand jeans and the disco and hippie fashions were in all their splendor. This fashion trend made its comeback during the mid-2010s, especially among younger women who opposed the low-rise skinny jean movement. After that, celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Rihanna, Candice Swanepoel and Taylor Swift began to adopt this look and, ever since, it’s become a popular item in any girl’s closet. There’s so many options from high-rise jeans, shorts, bikini bottoms and skirts, so there are multiple ways to incorporate this trend into your everyday look.

When I saw this Fashionista, my first thought was that she was completely rocking the Taylor Swift look in the best possible way. High-waisted garments are great when paired up with a crop top, just like what this Fashionista did. I loved the lace detail on her top because it gives it a total girly touch that works great with the whole ensemble. The bright red color of her high-waisted shorts is perfect for any summer day, and the detail of the buttons gives her outfit a cute sailor look. I also loved that she paired up the outfit with the wedges because the additional height really makes her stand out and look really sophisticated, even though it is still a casual look thanks to the material of her shoes.

Every detail of this outfit really adds up to make it a beautiful, outstanding ensemble. Her red lipstick is very classy and very much a Taylor Swift look, as is her curled hair. Ladies, if you are a T-Swift fan (just like me!), you should definitely get some inspiration from this Fashionista who was able to adopt Taylor’s look and make it her own.

How To: The key to a high-waisted short is to pair it up with a crop top so that both items can really stand out. There are multiple options for high-rise garments, but if you’re not a fan of revealing too much skin, there are always longer crop tops or high-rise shorts that cover up more skin.
