ALL IN THE DETAILS: I Like Us Better When We're Waisted

Ah, Florida: The Sunshine State. Many people have this image in their minds of Florida and its eternal sunshine. That is, people that don’t actually live in Florida, because any native will tell you that it is either sunny and scorching or pouring rain. There is no in between. Don’t get me wrong, I am a born and raised Floridian (and proud of it), but the weather can be a huge Debbie Downer when it comes to getting ready in the morning. I mean, who wants to put in the effort to get all dolled up when you know you will either be drenched in sweat or soaked in rain by the end of the day?

When it’s hot, it’s hard to find that perfect combination of “loose enough to not see me sweating my butt off” and “not too loose that I look like a giant, walking potato.” This is one of the reasons this Fashionista crushed it by combining two popular trends to make one comfy-yet-cute, grunge-yet-put-together look. Yes, plaid has been the biggest comeback since the Boy Meets World’s spin-off, but that is not what makes this outfit stand out, at least not to me. This Fashionista added a jean button-down around her waist, making the two separate trends her own. This addition takes in this oversized, plaid button-down and shows off her shape.

Summer is officially in full swing which means bikinis and beaches, but don’t be so quick to pack up your spring must-haves. Also, don’t hesitate to bring back some fall fashions. Put together an outfit all your own and try something new. This Fashionista ties together this look by pairing it with jean shorts, high-top converse, sunglasses and a solid black kate spade satchel (treat yourself *insert winking emoji*).

How To: If you are afraid that tying a button down around your waist doesn’t match the rest of your outfit, I say go for it anyways! This trend goes with anything: sundresses, skirts, shorts and jeans. Just try it out. Mix and match. Just do you and I promise you will be rocking this style.
