Chicago’s weather has definitely been very bipolar lately. The mornings have been humid and rainy, while the afternoons were warm and sunny. It has also been very windy, given that it is the Windy City. People’s styles have been unique this week. I assume that it is from the gradual change in weather, as people are dressing for different weather conditions. In my opinion, there were many Fashionistas on the streets this week at the University of Illinois’ campus.
This Fashionista stuck out to me because of the colorful detail within her dress. I saw her and her friend taking pictures on campus. I thought that would be a great opportunity to ask if I could get a couple shots as well. They told me that they were dressed up for graduation. Their dresses had Asian influence within them. They resembled a kimono. The dress itself is a vibrant orange-red color. The detailing is very pretty with all of the colors used as well as the artwork. This dress was made for a special occasion. I noticed that she did not have on a necklace or earrings. This was a very smart idea, those accessories might have been a distraction to the detailing within the dress. Not a lot of extra accessories were needed since the dress made a statement of its own. The accessories that she did have on were a small bracelet, sunglasses and a purse. The purse was a simple tan color that complemented the dress. The shoes she wore were plain tan flip flops. This look was formal yet simple. The dress itself is very formal, but the Fashionista made it simple by not overcrowding it with accessories. This was a very fashionable and international influence look.
How To: If you want to create an international look, shop at your local thrift shops or an international clothing store. Many thrift shops have international clothing. You can also create a similar look by wearing a vibrant dress and accessorizing to give it an international feel. This can include wearing your hair in a bun with a clip as well as wearing international accessories.
