Remember when I thought that summer was going to be boring and I would have nothing to do? LOL at that! This summer, I have the opposite problem. Juggling two jobs, an internship, campus ministry events, coffee dates with friends and my work with CollegeFashionista, I am quite drained basically all the time. Even though my lack of suntan and sleep can discourage me, I am really grateful for all that I have been blessed with this summer.
While many of my peers are interning at blue chip companies like Merrill Lynch for the summer, I am interning for a small wedding planning company called A Little Bit of Glitter. It has honestly been my favorite thing. We have been working on a styled shoot and worked with various vendors to create a mock wedding in photos. The best part was that I got to be the bride! I had so much fun getting hands-on experience in the wedding industry.
Balancing all of these things has been a lot of work, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Attending Pepperdine has taught me that pushing oneself and taking risks is important. Every student is highly driven and focused on their future, working hard to achieve their goals. I have learned, just like in fashion, it’s okay to try things that might not work out. It is good to put ourselves out there and stretch things, just like I am stretching my schedule with all of my activities.
This Fashionista was essentially a walking Nike advertisement. Her “cool girl” vibes were strong, radiating from her long hair to her Nike kicks. She was obviously willing to take risks, and OWNED it! Those sneakers were awesome. She rocked her DIY distressed denim and white tank top. Circular sunglasses and a silver watch completed her edgy look.
How To: Looking for a way to change your look? Add some fun new shoes with unique sunglasses. Let your hair down and walk like you own the street. Nervous? Don’t be! Just do it.
