ALL IN THE DETAILS: Lace It Up

Trends come and go, and what has recently been put on the top trends list is the lace-up top. I remember spotting this trend on the Brandy Melville website, which is when I first became interested in it. The style reminded me of something between shoelaces and corsets—the way the lines crossed looked very intriguing. If you search for lace-up tops, it’s amazing how many ways come up on how to work the trend and with different sleeve lengths, body suits and fabrics! Accessories aren’t even needed when you have such a unique top!

The Fashionista pictured is wore a white long-sleeved lace-up top which contrasted well with her ombré hair. Another pop-trend is the corduroy skirt, which has resurfaced from the ’70s. Corduroy usually ranges comes in a range of colors, characterized by its vertically ridged and velvet-like texture. With the corduroys’s rigid fabric, the buttons are placed down the front of the style of skirt, giving its signature look.

Continuing with her theme of neutral colors, the Fashionista wore a pair of black knee-high boots. In Chicago, the summer weather is warm, but when the wind kicks in, it feels as if the temperature drops 20 degrees! Plus, with lower heeled boots, she paired being able to walk comfortably around the city with style.

How to: Try everything on before buying! Make sure you are comfortable in the length of the lace-up, and the fit of your corduroy skirt. The skirt can also be paired with a graphic tee and Converse for an edgier look, or a basic fitted top with booties for a dressier look.
