Fashion is like a puzzle. The key to assembling this beautiful puzzle is finding the few pieces that fit together. I like this outfit particularly because it plays with the idea of a puzzle. Each piece complements the others in some way.
The top and bottom both flirt with the idea of femininity without sacrificing comfort. The top has a peplum, which hides any imperfections the tight skirt would otherwise accentuate. The skirt’s pattern is delicate while the lines and patterns emphasize the curves of the body. An aspect that is sure to make you feel like you are slaying this whole fashion thing!
Both pieces also have a tease of skin added in. The skirt has a slit on one side, which not only allows us to walk more freely, (BTW I absolutely love any skirt with a slit because it allows me to walk like a human instead of a waddling penguin!)Â but also serves as a quick peek-a-boo skin flash. The back of the top also has that teasing element. Not only does it have a low back, it also has ribbons holding up the whole piece.
If you haven’t already noticed, my go-to accessory is lipstick. I absolutely love trying out bold colors and experimenting with different textures. Sometimes this experimentation has resulted in a healthy confidence boost, and other times, it has resulted in my little brother telling me my lips look like a Teletubby… but a fashionista must carry on! In this particular case, the matte gray color really ties this outfit together. It is a focal point that sets the tone for the outfit. Sexy. Feminine. And a little on the strange side, I’ll admit, but you already know that’s the cost of being fashionable.
It’s the little things that make a HUGE impact on your viewers. And sure, mixing lace, prints and bold lipstick sounds like a tidbit of crazy, but hey, a girl’s gotta work with the puzzle pieces she’s been dealt.
