ALL IN THE DETAILS: Lette Me See That Bra

If you know me, bralettes are pretty much all I wear anymore. Not only are they half the price of a normal bra, but they’re 100 percent comfier, 100 percent more playful and, overall, one of the best purchases you’ll make. They come in a variety of styles, allowing you to achieve a soft look, an edgy look or a fabulously sexy look.

The saying “April showers brings May flowers,” is about the only thing getting me through this month. With all of this rain, it’s been hard to stay motivated, let alone look presentable and go to class. I don’t hate rain, it’s just that I only like it when I’m sleeping (and only when I’m sleeping). As we sit here mid-April, beginning to notice sprouting flowers and a little bit more sunshine, it’s easy to daydream about everything sleeveless and open-toed. Although dreary weather like this makes you crave all-day movie marathons and soft blankets, we Fashionistas/os have to make the most of our days. Honestly, wearing a cute outfit not only makes you look put together, but makes you feel it, as well.

No worries, putting together a cute ensemble doesn’t always require a lot of effort.  Sometimes, it’s the little details that really make you stand out. Bralettes may be small, but offer the perfect charm to any outfit, casual or not. This Fashionista kept it casual with her sandals, black jeans, knotted tank top and jean jacket. The strappy lace bralette peeking out of the top of her simple tank top is my favorite aspect of her look. Lace-up sandals paired with this style bralette are always a power couple and easily accent one another.

I personally find myself pulling out this lace accessory anytime I want to wear something backless or with a plunging neckline, but don’t want to go braless. Plus, they give you an excuse to show off your darling straps. What if it’s a breezy day out and you aren’t wearing a bra? Yes, sticky bras are a blessing, but what happens when it’s 90 degrees outside and they’re sliding right off? Bralettes offer the perfect solution to all of these problems. The one thing to remember is that you want the bra to add something to your outfit, not take away from it. Visible intimates were not always socially acceptable, but now that they’re everywhere, it’s important that you know how to flaunt them.

How To: First, distinguish the bralette style or styles you prefer. Bralettes look great underneath loose tank tops, T-shirts and dresses. They can also be worn underneath sheer shirts to show off some skin without revealing too much. If you’re feeling bold, you can couple a bralette with a flowy maxi skirt and a leather jacket. Urban Outfitters, NASTY GAL, Free People and Forever 21 have plenty of options to choose from. If you want to achieve the look above, all you need are dark wash jeans, gladiator sandals, a simple tank top, a jean jacket and a lace bralette.
