Kansas weather is known for being unpredictable, soo it’s no surprise that in Lawrence we’ve been having 60 degree days randomly throughout the dead of winter. Although we’ve had a nice break from the cold, I’m ready to be back in my wool sweaters and blanket scarves.
This Fashionista decided to celebrate the temporary warm weather with an outfit based off of a sunny color palette, focusing mostly on yellow tones. She tucked her striped shirt in to her high-waisted denim shorts, further emphasizing her waist with a thin white belt. For accessories she wore round black sunglasses, a bright yellow hat and backpack. Her hat was what initially caught my eye. In contrast to the typical darker floppy hats that have been on trend recently, its fun marigold color was refreshing. Her black Dr. Marten boots gave a grunge vibe to her girly look and she tied the laces around the tops for added detail. Pairing feminine pieces with edgier ones is always a great way to add interest to any outfit. An easy way to do this for spring is to pair floral patterns with leather. For instance, you can balance out the femininity of a pastel floral dress by pairing it with more masculine pieces such as a leather jacket or combat boots.
With February approaching and winter slowly coming to a close, try incorporating colorful pieces into your wardrobe if you’re in the need for some spring vibes.
How To: If it’s colder where you are, try doing this by wearing a pastel coat. If your closet is filled with mostly black and white pieces like mine, try pairing bright accessories, like a cobalt blue purse, with a neutral outfit for a pop of color.
