Something I love about the start of the new semester is that everyone (for the most part) is still putting effort into what they are wearing. For about three weeks, I don’t have to look at a sea of running shorts and big T-shirts…praise. However, there are still some looks that just stand out from the already nicely dressed crowd. Today’s Fashionista didn’t stand out in the traditional sense, but rather her neutral accessories are what caught my eye. Sometimes it’s not all about color.
Today’s Fashionista’s outfit consisted of a simple striped, terry cloth T-shirt dress (here is a similar one). She styled it with neutral accessories including a gold watch, a long gold tassel necklace with a neutral colored stone, tortoise shell round frame sunglasses and beige sandals with a crisscross detail. To finish off the look, she added a patterned handbag that had neutral colors.
What I loved about this look was that it had the some color tones throughout but still managed to have enough details to make it catch my eye. The different accessories brought multiple textures into the look and made it more interesting than just a T-shirt dress. Today’s Fashionista also made me think about the power of neutral accessories and how they can truly change a wardrobe. I just love the idea of having a smaller, neutral closet and changing up my looks with different accessories (P.S. It’s the perfect solution to packing for a trip, too.) Take a fashion lesson from today’s Fashionista and try the all-neutral look, just add the perfect accessory, or two or three.
