In an ideal world, my love of fashion and keeping up with trends wouldn’t be hindered by my budget. Every season brings new trends to fawn over and I feel compelled to make purchases to update my look. However, for most students, myself included, the vast majority of funds go towards rent, books, food and coffee, leaving little money to buy the newest styles. I’ve learned that instead of buying into every trend, it’s easier on my wallet to purchase trendy, standout accessories to change my look.
The fringe purse this week’s Fashionista is wearing is a perfect example of an eye-catching accessory, and the style comes straight from the runway. Fringe was everywhere on the fall ’14 and spring ’15 runways, whether it was fringe details on shoes, dresses or jackets. This Fashionista’s purse gives the look a bohemian vibe making her outfit ideal for a music festival or picnic in the park. The bag can be worn with a variety of looks so while the fringe trend may not last forever, she can still use the purse for years.
Aside from finding a cheaper way to keep up on trends, standout accessories allow you to keep the rest of your outfit simple and easy. This student let her purse be the focus of her look and wore a pretty gray dress with a subtle texture and brown leather booties. This is an outfit that can be thrown on quickly before class, yet looks fashionable and put together.
How To: Want to try out the fringe trend for yourself? Grab some fringed booties if you want to ease in or try a leather jacket with fringe details for a bold, eye-catching style.
