Welcome to my first official article!
The monochrome look was hugely popular in 2016, but a mixture of colors and patterns is always a fun way to brighten up gloomy winter days. For my fellow Orange classmates up here in ‘Cuse, these brisk days can last way too long.
This Fashionista was spotted on her way back to her dorm room. She was certainly not shy about mixing her patterns and colors. Layered over a striped top are a gray, knee-length knit cardigan and green parka. For accessories, she chose a red, geometric-print scarf and a black beanie with cat ears! The oversize black-rim glasses add a hipster vibe to this creative look. To keep the attention on the top layers, keep it simple with plain bottoms and a trusty pair of boots, as this student did.
She described her personal style as “eclectic.” Her favorite piece in this outfit is the cardigan because it is ideal for transitioning between seasons.
The patterns don’t have to stop there! While flowers don’t usually grow at this time of the year, a floral pattern can be a happy reminder of the spring season up ahead. While I didn’t notice any bling on this Fashionista, jewelry is always a good way to add some shimmer and personality to any outfit.
As I stare longer at these images, I find myself inspired to reach into my closet for my striped skirt and floral cardigan. I hope this has given you a new perspective, as well. Don’t be afraid! Patterns were made for clashing.
