Spring has sprung, CollegeFashionista. While this often tends to mean rain and humidity, I prefer a more vibrant connotation: flowers and their beautiful colors alike.
What better way to celebrate a change in the weather than by adorning yourself in your favorite seasonal pastels? (I mean, come on BC preps—I know you like the sound of that.)
This week’s Fashionista is doing just that—and on a rather dreary day, nonetheless. She’s a breath of fresh air decked in her florals; she pairs an adorable cotton mini skirt complete with red, purple and blue flower detailing with a plain denim blue V-neck. The solid top against the busy bottom adds contrast, but just enough so that it doesn’t overwhelm the look. To tie all the colors present in the skirt to the rest of the outfit, she throws on a long deep purple cardigan. Plus, it allows her to stay cozy in the funky, fluctuating temperatures present during these rainy spring days.
For added fun and sunshine, our Fashionista struts around with a multicolored floral umbrella.
Now for the pièce de résistance: her beautiful, immaculate and fabulous periwinkle Hunter Boots. They brighten up any darkness created by the intense cardigan, and, of course, keep her dry in the cutest way possible. Also, is it just me or does simply looking at these things make you happy?
How To: Creating a look like this Fashionista’s is super easy and super fun—the key is to be bold with layering the most transitional pieces in your wardrobe. Feel free to wear your favorite fall cardigan with your comfiest t-shirt and cotton skirt, being sure not to forget that added pop of pastel!
