Ah spring…The time of year where you can ditch the bulky coats and sweaters, and wear something light. Although the sun is shining more and the weather’s getting warmer, there’s one downside to it all and that is trying to figure out what to wear in the transitional weather. How can anyone keep their look fresh, vibrant, and fashion-forward while still being comfortable and weather appropriate? It’s easier than a lot of people think. No, you don’t have to just stick with the typical flower patterns and bright colors.
No, you don’t need all the fluff especially in the time of crazy weather. To me, the real power is in the small details. So when I saw a brightly colored Fashionista walking to class, I couldn’t help but take notice of her simple, yet chic style. The color of her brightly cropped cardigan helped break up her black tank top and leggings so that it became much more than just a simple black outfit. I think that also prevented her from looking too gloomy and ninja-like in the middle of the day. I fell in love with her brown boots as they were stylish, yet perfect for this rainy and cloudy weather. Her vintage looking necklace and multiple earring piercings gave the look a hint of glam.
What I loved most about this look was that you could dress this up or down depending on the event and weather. The leggings give the look a more relaxed and toned down look (as compared to a more structured look that a jean material tends to add) while the colored cardigan could be worn to work. I think as a fellow college student, outfits like these that have key basics and transitional pieces work for any style and budget.
