As you can tell from the background of my Style Guru page, I am a big fan of cheetah/leopard print; it is my style weapon. When I’m wearing this print I am unstoppable, powerful and, in the words of Christian Siriano, “fierce.”
What you might not know about me is that I also love cats. I have my own cat, Minnie, who is as perfect as a cat can be, but I digress. This Fashionista shares my love of cats and fashion, as demonstrated by the seamless combination of the two in her outfit.
If you were to spot our Fashionista from a distance, you might miss the tiny, black cats on her dress. However, like the title of this article says, it’s all in the details. Her light pink, A-line dress is as classy as the bow ties the cats on her dress are sporting. Black and pink are a timeless combination, but the fun print adds a playful twist to this classic look.
Since the dress’s pattern is quite busy, our Fashionista keeps the accessorizing to a minimum. The simplicity of the black, bowed heels and tan cross-body bag tie the outfit together without distracting from the dress.
It’s also important to note that our Fashionista’s outfit consists of only three colors, two of which are neutrals. It can be tricky to rock a bold print, but sticking to a simple color scheme can make it much easier.
How To: I love how our Fashionista uses her outfit to express herself and her interests. You can do the same! Find a piece of clothing with a pattern that’s “you;” whether it be an animal or object, anything goes in the world of fashion. Then, build your outfit around that article of clothing, keeping the rest of your ensemble simple in color, cut and pattern.
