It’s official: I am obsessing over the resurgence of satin and velvet. Whether it’s subtle accents or a full-on ensemble, I simply cannot get enough of these wondrously textured fabrics. And can we talk about how Gucci’s pre-fall 2016 collection featured both of these materials alongside floral, geometric patterns, brocade and tulle? It sounds like an haute mess, but it somehow comes together as an overall flirty, enchanting and impressionable collection.
Two of the Gucci pieces that stood out to me were satin bomber jackets: one in white with a floral print and another one in metallic lavender and copper tones. The bomber jacket has already made its way onto the fashion scene but this is a new way to spice it up. When I found out my friend and fashion muse, Emily, had a satin bomber in her possession, I jumped at the chance to share it with you all!
Though this jacket has some edge in a jet-black hue, the all-over floral print adds a bold, feminine touch. Paired with the bomber shape, it screams confidence. When you have a large pattern that covers the whole garment, I feel it’s best to keep the rest of your outfit simple, like Emily did with a solid colored ribbed crop top and charcoal gray jeans, trendily ripped at the knees. This Fashionista topped her look off with a precious stone amethyst choker and platform shoes.
With fall on the horizon, this style of jacket is just enough light coverage for the bit of chill in the air. Emily found her satin bomber at a sample sale in the Los Angeles fashion district, but there are plenty of different brands that have similar styles, like this one. You’ll be sure to make a statement on campus. Bombs away!
