Scarfs can make any look elegant and sophisticated. They were first worn in Egypt as a part of beautiful headpieces. In the ‘30s, they were at the height of fashion in France. Later, stars like Audrey Hepburn wore them in American films during Hollywood’s Golden Age, trademarking the famous scarf and sunglasses combination. The scarf trend isn’t going away soon and for good reason. It can add a pop of color to any look. It also adds a very feminine flare to any outfit, especially in the case of this Fashionistas look.
This local art student and Fashionista added her own twist to the pin-up girl style. She inherited a bright silk scarf and her sterling silver earrings from her late grandmother. She’s sporting a simple white crop top and my favorite, the very trendy overalls. Lastly, she slipped into platform wedges that she discovered at a local Philadelphia thrift store. When I asked her to take her photograph for a fashion article, she said when putting together an outfit, she always struggles between deciding to dress in ‘50s era attire or choosing to dress more modern and sporty. I think she nailed the combination of the two with this look.
