ALL IN THE DETAILS: Sneaker Fever

Just over a year ago we saw the reemergence of white old school sneaks.
I was elated to see a trend come about that could grant my feet a break. I love sneakers: slipping on a bouncy active arch, no need to manage those stupid little buckles on sandals or heels and, of course, the instant burst of life when putting sneakers on. Heels may give us confidence, but sneakers, (whether it’s in my head or not) give me excitement and energy to get going. I need that when my alarm mysteriously turns off and my bed coerces me to stay.

But, is this pristine snow white possession getting dirty or is this trend delving into a darker dimension? High tops? Different colors? This Fashionista is wearing a pair of Lacoste gray high tops that are edgier and have a thinner shape that flatter a woman’s legs well. She accessorized generously with necklaces, bracelets and rings in order to liven up the more simple black romper.

The initial trend of the white sneakers came along with the fashion initiative of wearing sneakers with any outfit. That means wearing sneakers with your boyfriend jeans, leather floods, a dress or maybe a romper. The casualness interrupts femininity by bringing playfulness and a youthful feel to an outfit. The point is that sneakers can be worn with anything. But, if you are a dad still wearing your Old Navy dad jeans, I would probably stay away from pairing them with your Asics.

How To: Lacoste, Converse, Keds or maybe adidas—whichever style you choose, keep it simple so you can wear a bold outfit. Don’t feel weird about bringing sneakers from past seasons back to life. They are a smart investment not only to wear with any outfit now, but maybe they’ll reincarnate a third time in another decade.
