ALL IN THE DETAILS: Staying Fierce with Faux Fur

One of the many great things about college is you can wear absolutely anything you want. You go into campus your freshman year with thousands of unfamiliar faces and have the chance to reinvent yourself. By reinventing yourself you get to change your mindset, attitude and style.

Any college student can agree the key to their everyday outfit is comfort. Here at Rutgers, no one wants to be uncomfortable as they walk around Livingston or wait around for the next LX bus to show up. As winter is still in full effect this February, fashion and style stems from what kind of jacket you are wearing. If you think about it, lectures can last up to an hour to an hour and a half but most Rutgers students, or the majority of college students, spend their day walking outside. Whether it is from campus to campus or building to building, the first thing people see when they pass you on the streets is your jacket.

From puffy down jackets to wool coats, a person’s jacket says a lot about his or her attitude and style. Statement jackets are key when it comes to wanting something different from the average fur-lined winter coat. And what better way to stay fierce and fashionable in the cold than a (faux of course) leopard print jacket?

In these pictures, this Fashionista is seen wearing a navy colored turtleneck, two-toned jeans, black booties, and a vintage black belt. Keeping it simple under a statement jacket is key when going for this casual but fierce look. Colors such as navy, black and grey pair well will different patterns and textures. If you do not want to be too plain under your jacket, a unique belt pairs nicely with the look.

Rachel Zoe once said, “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.” Statement jackets simply do just that. They make you feel fierce, fashionable, and empowered. A simple, cool toned outfit paired with a faux fur or textured jacket is the perfect way to make what ever statement you want as you strut through campus and express who you are through your style.

Kind of like leopard, stay quick and fierce and figure out what statement you want to convey through all your details.
