The season of spring is all about removing that heavy winter apparel and unveiling bright, bountiful colors that mimic the lush scenery that is sprouting from the earth. I personally love spring—it’s the greatest transition from a dark and cold winter, and it reminds all college students that summer is near! Although the weather here in Chicago and other places can be quite unpredictable, with the right style advice (like the articles you can find here on CollegeFashionista), no Fashionista/o has to go without being exceptionally dressed.
In the mix of spring trends, the color hue of military green is running rampant right now, making its way into all sorts of fashion magazines and sites. Military green is the perfect seasonal transition color as it is not too bright, like a fluorescent green, nor too dark, like a deep shade of evergreen. It also works tremendously well as a unisex color that both men and women can pull off with any outfit. Military green makes its way onto all sorts of clothing: pants, backpacks, hats, sweaters, scarves, shorts, shoes and the infamous bomber styled jacket. What makes military green so versatile is the fact that it lacks much pattern and sheen; it’s simple, and it’s color tone matches with almost anything.
I spotted this Fashionisto wearing outerwear that was, you guessed it, military green. Made by a collegiate-styled British company Jack Wills, this jacket is a hybrid between the traditional gilet and the business blazer made of 100 percent nylon to keep it breathable and lightweight. The quilted pattern gives off a simplistic feel as well as the paneling that keeps the jacket movable and free flowing. Paired with a contrasting Burberry scarf for a little extra pattern and warmth, this Fashionisto’s jacket allows his outfit to flow effortlessly from head to toe. His slim black boot jeans allow for the jacket and scarf to stand out, and his brown leather oxford shoes remind onlookers that naturalistic color palettes are the best for this season.
How To: Whether you’re a Fashionista or Fashionisto, it’s never a challenge to pull off a military green apparel piece. Jackets and pants are the easiest to find and pair terrifically with suede boots/shoes, black jeans and a white T-shirt.
