ALL IN THE DETAILS: Vintage Is The New Black

Right now our society is sometimes so caught up with the new, shiny and up and coming items that sometimes we forget that the best inspiration may be found by examining the trends from before our time. I am talking about vintage. Think about the ’70s where fashion revolved around western detailing and fabrics. Now think about the flapping ’20s where everything and anything that was in had some sort of shine. Not to mention the ’40s where midi length skirts were all everyone could talk about! This Fashionista uses her ’20s and ’70s-inspired accessories and combines them with a classy yet casual ’40s influenced outfit to create a look that brings vintage and modern together.

My favorite thing about this Fashionista’s look is that she subtlety accents current and relevant pieces with vintage accessories. This Fashionista sports the tulip back shell tank top by Ann Taylor LOFT and pairs it with a striped midi wrap skirt. These two items together create a classy yet trendy look that is perfect for a day in the office or an afternoon in the coffee shop. Already channeling her inner ’40s girl, this Fashionista takes the midi length skirt look to another level by adding vintage accessories. She finishes her outfit with an ’20s-inspired statement necklace and diamond shaped statement ring. I am absolutely in love with her vintage Dooney & Bourke equestrian cross-body bag.

How To: Get this Fashionista’s look by first pairing a tank top with a midi length skirt or by sporting a midi dress. Now this is the time to experiment with different vintage-inspired pieces. Some of my favorites include this olive leather vintage cross-body by Dooney & Bourke and the bar pendant by Free People.
