Another semester has come to a close, and now we all get to enjoy a month vacation without any classroom stress. For some of us, this means catching up on missed sleep and for others this means spending time with friends and family. However, at the end of the day, our ultimate goals are to relax, be comfortable and, of course, staying warm during these winter days.
Unlike past years, the winters in Chicago have been surprisingly warm; This year, however it is no secret that winter is here. We have spent most of the season without our parkas and snow boots, but now it is time to break out our favorite winter apparel and accessories.
This Fashionista rocked this laid back look by wearing a basic white T-shirt underneath a cozy gray cardigan. Pairing her top with a pair of fleece-lined leggings and Hunter Boots helps her to stay warm. Since this Fashionista’s outfit was fairly neutral, she kept the focus on her accessories. Her scarf added the perfect amount of color to her look by combing different shades of greys and purples. In addition to the plaid scarf, she added a bow ear warmer and rocked a five-strand braid as an unexpected touch. As for jewelry, she kept it very simple with a pair of diamond earrings and a ring. To tie in the colors of the scarf, she wore a muted purple nail polish.
How To: To achieve this look, keep your outfit mostly neutral or monochromatic (style tip: wearing pants and shoes that are the same color will make you look taller and leaner). Then add a colored patterned scarf and winter accessories such as an ear warmer, hat or gloves. Do not be afraid to experiment with different hairstyles like the five-strand braid.
