Scarves are certainly nothing new in our wardrobe, but what is different about them this season is their size. Let me begin by saying that I am a devoted scarf wearer. I rarely leave home without one to complete my outfit, but most importantly to keep me warm on my cold walk to campus. However, I was a little hesitant to try the blanket scarf trend. At first I felt like it was overbearing my outfit, but once the cold weather hit, I cozied up to the idea. It’s so warm and comfy just like that blanket laying on your bed that you never want to come out from under in the morning. I’ve also come to realize how versatile the blanket scarf is; not only can you wear it like a regular scarf, but also like a cape, jacket or shawl. It is a simple and quick way to update your outerwear!
This Fashionista reaffirmed my new love for the ever so trendy blanket scarf. She’s rocking her extra thick scarf wrapped once around her neck, paired with a black and white striped long sleeve shirt worn under a thin utility vest. Not only do the plaid and stripes look great together, but I also absolutely love the color scheme in her outfit. The vibrant colors in the plaid scarf complement the army green vest perfectly and are all pulled together with the red lipstick. The light wash cropped jeans that she picked up from Express gives us a little glimpse of spring. This Fashionista’s ensemble fits the definition of “cozy-chic.”
How To: Blanket scarves look the best when paired with a simple T-shirt, fitted dress or tailored blazer. If you find that this oversized accessory is too much fabric to have around your neck, try throwing it over your shoulders and belting it around your waist instead. Doing this transforms the scarf into an easy vest or coat. There is no wrong way to wear the blanket scarf, so don’t be afraid to try all different ways!
