There’s nothing new about scarves. Whether for fashion or function, they come in all shapes, sizes, colors and materials. There’s heavier winter scarves and lighter summer spring scarves. There have been various trends over the years with scarves. For instance, the short, square scarf in a bold, punk color and potentially a checkered print that Fashionistas/os alike wore to look edgy. Another huge scarf trend was the infinity scarf period. My personal favorite was the knitted infinity scarf with fringe. This season, the trend with scarves seems to be “go big or go home.” Not only are oversized scarves very fashionable at the moment, but also perfect for keeping warm this chilly winter!
I spotted this Fashionista sporting the oversized scarf trend on her way into the mall to do some holiday shopping. Her scarf is a blue and green plaid which is a pop of color to her look. Since, the rest of her outfit remaining pretty neutral. What I love most is her lack of fear in combining colors; she pulls off the combination of gray, black, brown and gold effortlessly.
She pairs her warm scarf with an equally warm sweater with button details at the sides. Her sleeves are cuffed up to reveal her gold bracelets which is a daring move as most would pair silver accessories with gray. She has on some casual denim jeans, but they’re mostly hidden beneath her thigh-high black suede boots. Then, she sports a simple black peacoat and carries all her necessities in a brown leather bag. Although her look seems simple, this Fashionista can see the careful consideration put into this outfit to create the perfect balance between so many disharmonious colors to pull together one #RAD look.
