AROUND TOWN: Fashion For Philanthropy Fashion Show

When it comes to style, members of Fordham’s Fashion For Philanthropy club know where it’s at. Each year, the group puts on a spring fashion show in partnership with The Make-A-Wish Foundation. The show consistently features student models, coordinators, designers and DJs, all working to benefit the foundation. This year, the fashion show was held in the Rose Hill Gymnasium, complete with runway, VIP area and raffles. The raffles were generously donated by big-name designers like Jeffrey Campbell and Rebecca Minkoff, and drew a lot of attention. The show’s theme was “FFP Schwarz,” taking its inspiration from the world-famous toy store. Showcasing fun, flirty looks, the fashion show made use of bright colors, high heels and mixed patterns. There were so many great looks to inspire Fashionista/os for spring, and the night was a huge success.  I had the opportunity to speak with the club’s president, sophomore Linda Mulé, about the club and it’s annual show.

Name: Linda Mulé

Role: President, Fashion For Philanthropy

CollegeFashionista: What is your favorite part of being involved with Fashion For Philanthropy?

Linda Mulé: I have so many favorite parts of being in Fashion for philanthropy! One is being able to work with such amazing people in the club. They really are passionate and amazing members. Another is being able to work with such an amazing organization, The Make-A-Wish Foundation, all while putting together a show which shows the passion of our club.

CF: Are there any specific designers or shows that have inspired this year’s show?

LM: We were inspired by Moschino’s fall Ready-To-Wear NYFW show!

CF: What makes Fashion For Philanthropy unique?

LM: FFP is so unique because it is so much more than just a fashion club. It combines two passions. One, obviously of fashion, and two, the philanthropy aspect combines in a factor of reaching out to others and making a difference.

CF: How has your experience with Fashion For Philanthropy been influenced by your relationship with fashion?

LM: I think of fashion now as less of a hobby and more of a passion, which can lead people to make differences and do great things.
