The Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM) hosted the event “Marketing Fest Mexico.” This event, planned by the Student Marketing Society of the university, had the purpose of making connections between students and professionals in different industries. “Marketing Fest Mexico” was three-day event in which students had the opportunity of attending conferences and workshops depending on their areas of interest. I had the opportunity to talk to the treasurer of the event to discuss what made “Marketing Fest Mexico” an ideal event for university students all over the country.

CollegeFashionista: Tell us more about Marketing Fest Mexico! What makes this event so special?
Paola Gonzalez: What makes this event so special is that it brings the best of the best in marketing to one place. It is divided into four areas: fashion, entertainment, sports and trends. Some examples of the speakers that participated in the event are ELLE magazine, Sephora, Louis Vuitton, Puma, Sony Music and Samsung.
CF: How did you get involved in the planning of this event?
PG: I’ve been a part of the Marketing Society for a while now. Since I’m currently the treasurer, it was part of my job to be a part of this event. I think this is one of my favorite events so far because it is a very diverse and big event. In addition to handling the monetary aspect of the Marketing Fest, I also had to promote the event and sell tickets. It is definitely a rewarding experience because I had the opportunity to meet people in different industries and learn more about the opportunities available for me when I graduate.
CF: Why do you believe that people interested in the fashion industry should attend?
PG: I think that this event is perfect for them because, as I mentioned before, it allows students to network with top professionals in the industry. They were able to listen to advice from the speakers and get insight about what to do and what employers look for when applying for a job. Fashion is something that changes constantly, but it remains as a top interest for many people around the world. I believe all business students, especially those involved in marketing, should take advantage of opportunities like this, which allows them to learn how to identify trends and how to work with that information.
CF: What can we expect from next year’s conference?
PG: As event planners, we are always looking to improve in any way we can. For next year, people should expect different speakers and better overall quality of the event. We also expect a larger event as we are planning to invite more people from around Mexico to attend. If you enjoyed this year’s event, you’ll definitely love the next one!
