Here at Illinois State, we are fortunate enough to have a fabulous fashion program. With that being said, we also have many fabulous Fashionistas on campus who are a part of ISU’s Apparel Merchandising and Design Association. I was able to meet up with Mary Puls, sophomore Apparel/Merchandising major and model for this year’s AMDA fashion show. When talking with Mary her passion shined through, and fashion is definitely her calling!
Name: Mary Puls
Role: Apparel and Merchandising Student/Model
CollegeFashionista: What inspired you to work in the fashion industry?
Mary Puls: I’ve always had a love for fashion, and have modeled all throughout high school. Modeling helped me discover that I want to work in the fashion industry!
CF: What were some major looks from the AMDA fashion show?
MP: The theme for the show was Enchanted: From Dawn to Dusk. There were colors from all over the spectrum, with looks ranging from light, bold and dark. There were also a lot of dresses and lighter jackets since it was for the spring season.
CF: As a model, what was the most exciting part of the show for you?
MP: I really loved all of the designs in this year’s show. Being a part of AMDA, I’ve gotten to see all the hard work that gets put into it. I’m proud of all the designers, and it was very rewarding to model their looks!
CF: Where do you see yourself in your career 10 years from now?
MP: I see myself living in New York, having a stable job as a Fashion Buyer. I hope to have a career that I can consistently learn and grow from.
Learn More: The AMDA fashion show took place last Thursday, April 16, but you can see a recap of Mary strutting the catwalk on the AMDA fashion show Facebook page!
