One of my favorite things about living in the city, especially Chicago, is the onslaught of incredible stores, ideas and services. Read below to learn more about a service that I found when I crossed paths with the co-founder!
Name: Russ Layng
Role: Co-founder of Scout My Style
CollegeFashionista:Â What exactly is Scout My Style and how does it work?
Russ Layng:Â Scout My Style is a personal shopping service that helps people find clothes in their style, that they will be really happy to find, at local stores. First, shoppers take an interview to create what we call their StyleID. Whenever someone searches, stylists at local boutiques use their StyleID to come up with incredibly personalized recommendations.
CF:Â How did you get involved in creating Scout My Style?
RL:Â When I heard the beginnings of the idea, I thought it was something I would really love to use and I wanted to help make it happen.
CF:Â What is your favorite thing about the service itself and the process of creating it?
RL:Â My favorite thing is how simple the service is when all the pieces come together. At its core are people who can provide amazing style and shopping advice, and other people who want their help, and we get to bring them together in a brand new way.
CF:Â Where do you see Scout My Style headed?
RL: We would love to see Scout My Style continue to expand throughout the city. There are so many wonderful independent stores that we’re excited to bring into our network, and help them offer their expertise to everyone we can.
Learn More: Be sure to check out Scout My Style if you live in the city of Chicago! They’ll  be present at a local boutique blowout sale at 833 West Armitage Avenue this weekend. Even if you’re unable to attend, be sure to check out their website here. To channel Layng’s look in the photos above, stay warm in some corduroys, a puffy winter jacket and a cozy scarf.
