When it comes to fashion, DC has become a style hotspot. MU’s fashion club provides amazing opportunities for budding Fashionistas in the Marymount community. Additionally, the annual fashion show at Marymount is the perfect way to get involved without leaving campus. Here, I chat with Fashionista Sydni Chapman about her involvement in these rad programs as well as her love and passion for all things fashion!

Role: Member, Fashion Club
CollegeFashionista: What are three words you would use to describe your personal style?
Sydni Chapman: Vintage, quirky and bohemian.
CF: If you could raid one celebrity’s closet, whose would it be and why?
SC: Zooey Deschanel because she’s the queen of quirk.
CF: What is it about fashion that makes you so passionate about it?
SC: Fashion is like an art to me. I like to get creative and have fun with what I wear. It’s like an artistic representation of who I am.
CF: Can you talk about MU’s fashion club and what you love about it?
SC: The fashion club is one of my favorite things about Marymount. You get so many wonderful opportunities and experiences in the fashion world by working at local events and fashion shows. You also often get the chance to make connections that could lead to a job in the future.
CF: What was your role in Marymount’s annual Portfolio In Motion Fashion Show, and what was your favorite part about it?
SC: I was both a backstage and public relations specialist, so I did everything from helping make posters to doing quick changes during the show. My favorite part was seeing the whole thing come together on stage. It really made all of the hard work worth it.
CF: What is your dream career that you hope to be in after you graduate?
SC: If I’m being honest, I’m not sure yet. I’m really open to anything. I used to be certain that I wanted to be a stylist, but now that I’ve realized all of the possibilities, I’m torn.
