Nebraska may not be known as the most fashionable state, but we have our moments, especially at UNL where our TMFD college students are prominent and take control of the fashion scene. The advertising team for the campus newspaper, The Daily Nebraskan, is hosting their third annual fashion show. The fashion show gains more popularity with every year, making it a pretty well-organized and attended event on campus. Anyone can volunteer as a runway model, and they are paired up with a local store in Lincoln. Models are instructed to go to their assigned store at a specific time for their fitting. Then models show up early in the evening to get started on hair and makeup and a quick run through before the show. I had the opportunity to meet up with one of this years models to discuss the fashion show more in depth.
Name: Taylor Garlow
Role: Model
CollegeFashionista: What was the overall goal of the Daily Nebraskan Fashion Show?
Taylor Garlow: The overall goal of the DN fashion show was to bring awareness to local stores in the Lincoln area, promoting their new spring arrivals.
CF: What vendor were you assigned to, and what did you like most about working with them?
TG: I was assigned to the boutique Be Yourself. They gave me a gorgeous casual, black print maxi dress to wear along with these amazingly comfortable black wedges. They have a wide variety of spring dresses, which is what the girls’ and I modeled on the runway. My favorite part of the boutique is that they offer high end fashion trends at more affordable prices.
CF: What was your favorite part about the show, and would you be interested in being apart of it next year?
TG: I would definitely volunteer to be apart of the fashion show again next year. It was a great experience dressing up with my friends and strutting down the runway!
Learn More: The newspaper provided an article with more information about the DN Fashion Show and how they’re changing things up each year.
