I am a Political Science and Journalism double major at the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater. There I focus on my studies to become a Political News Corresponder. Within my studies, I continue my passion for the academics through CollegeFashionista as a part-time intern and editor and Lifestyle Editor for Royal Purple, a local distributive paper for UWW students and the Whitewater community. A passion for journalism, I explains my views and discretions on my blog at www.catherinedsmith.blog. There not only are politics and social biases discussed, but my very own, not-so-secretive passion of fashion lye. With the heart of serving the community, I rigorously advocate for the Children's Miracle Network, MS Foundation: Wisconsin- Chapter, Alzheimer's Association, and Miss America Organization. With the foundation of determination and strength built in my very character, I hope to continue to lead a legacy worth living. As I continue to advocate the value of service with the title of Miss Lakeshore 2017 within the Miss America Organization, I express my story of personal tragedy and triumph through my personal platform "Link Leadership: Live and Lead Your Legacy" throughout the state and community school districts. Looking to promote the interest of the public and awareness of mental illness, my true passion is within the sciences and advocation of Mental Illness Awareness and Suicide Prevention. Mind, Body, and Soul, I love to be in the outdoors and I may be a little bit of an adrenaline-junkie when it comes to my love for rollercoasters or bungee jumping.
