BEAUTY BAR: Banging Beauty

I’ve never experimented much with my hair; it has looked pretty much the same in every school picture from kindergarten through senior year. But I’ve always had serious hair envy of girls who could pull off bangs. Maybe it’s because I’m scarred from the days when my mom would DIY it, and my banged toddler locks got me mistaken for a boy far too many times, but I’ve never been able to take that leap of faith and chop off some bangs.

When pulled off correctly, though, bangs are a great beauty trend. This Fashionista’s bangs take the center stage and allow her to go simple with the rest of her makeup. Her ponytail shows that you can wear bangs with an up-do, and bangs don’t have to be a high-maintenance hairstyle.

If you’re feeling bored with your current hairstyle, take some inspiration from this Fashionista and get some bangs. Ask your stylist what style of bangs he or she thinks would work best for your face shape. Or find a celebrity with a similar face shape and ask to get her style.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To get and maintain the best bangs get a lightweight oil or hair serum to run through your hair and keep it sleek and shiny. After running through the length of your hair use what’s remaining on your fingertips on your bangs to keep them sleek and frizz-free. Dry shampoo will also help rejuvenate your bangs on second or third day hair. Lastly, a good flat iron to help keep your bangs sleek and styled is a must.
