While we are slowly transitioning from winter to spring here in New York (emphasis on slowly), it is becoming harder and harder to dress for this weather and thinking about makeup on top of that, forget about it! In terms of fashion, the spring season is most often associated with pastel, lighter colors but I love the boldness of dark lipstick. This past winter season this trend really took off and I have a feeling it is here to stay for spring.
The makeup you wear can be a make or break component and it also says a lot about the outfit itself and the overall look you are going for. It is a vital element to any daily look and there is no better season than spring to start experimenting, especially with makeup and lipstick!
My Fashionista is all about beauty, makeup and accessories and this berry-colored lipstick gives her simple outfit a bit of attitude. Wearing make up is supposed to make you feel naturally flawless and because she went bold with the dark lipstick, her face and eye makeup have lighter, neutral tones to even it out. Since our eyes are immediately drawn to the boldness that this shade of lipstick adds, my Fashionista also decided to keep it simple with the rest of her look. The gray dress paired with these black Steve Madden flats is the perfect in-between season outfit and since the darker lipstick is extremely wearable, she pulls off the complete look effortlessly.
What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: Imitating this look is easy and affordable. My Fashionista buys most of her beauty products from Sephora and this Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick can also be found there. Although dark lipstick is great in the winter, try something new and rock these darker shades in the spring while enjoying the warmer weather.
