Skincare and makeup routines can become such a hassle. You’ve heard it before, and now you know it to be true. As soon as you step outside and break a sweat during your walk to the car, the foundation melting off of your face is definitely telling you it’s time for a change. It’s important to make sure you are updating the beauty products you use every four to six months. If you’re noticing that the foundation you’ve been using for the last year now makes your skin look orange, it’s time to give your face a change of scenery. Old makeup has a tendency to work less efficiently, and can even cause major damage to your skin.
It’s no surprise that your winter makeup essentials are probably different from your summer essentials. When transitioning from a winter to a summer routine, it’s a good idea to remember to let your skin breathe every once in a while. Not only can it be uncomfortable to wear layers of heavy makeup in the heat, but sweating that occurs underneath that makeup can cause breakouts.
How exactly do makeup gurus manage the summertime? Easy. We tend to opt for a natural summer glow. Instead of trying to matte any shine on my face, I prefer the dewy look and keep the shine. I switch out my full coverage foundation for something sheer, and that usually ends up being a shimmering primer or a CC cream. If your CC cream doesn’t contain SPF, it’s a good idea to prime your face first with sunscreen to keep your skin healthy.
Did I mention I love the chance to embrace my freckles when they come out this time of year? Because I do. Why hide what others are now trying to recreate with an eyeliner pencil? Bronzer (used for both my cheekbones and my eyelids), a touch of highlight, full brows, mascara, and a fun lip are my go-tos for the finishing touches of my summer routine and it’s never a hassle. Watching and responding to what works and doesn’t work on your skin is the most important tip for perfecting your personal routine.
This Fashionista’s makeup game is on point. She used Dermablend foundation for a flawless look. Then, with Bare Minerals eyeshadows, she created that brown natural smokey eye that we all fangirl over in the summer. To spice things up, she perfected her pout and added Smashbox’s metallic liquid lip for the finishing touch. She’s glowing in her distressed oversize sweater (perfect for a chilly spring day) and black leggings. Her two top knots are screaming Spice Girls and complete everything about this look.
She is rocking it from head to toe; from healthy skin to a fabulous fashion sense. Be you because you are beautiful.
