The latest trend for Fashionistas is chrome nails. Everyone is going crazy over these beautifully shiny and metallic nails. Chrome nails are futuristic and somewhat intergalactic.
This Fashionista has a cool-girl-minimalistic-chic vibe to her look, that is reflected in her nails (no pun intended). One of the things that stood out to me about her chrome nails, is that they aren’t 100 percent chrome. I love that she has a mix of the silver based chrome and a soft and feminine lilac. The silver chrome also matches well with her rings, as they are also silver based. For most, the lilac wouldn’t pop as much as it does on this Fashionista. However, the lilac is the perfect colour against her skin tone and her all-black outfit really help her nails look special.
Her fantastic shoes, sunglasses and hat add an awesome edge to her look. I love that her black suede Puma shoes have a chrome gold cap on the toes. The shoes tie in the whole chrome theme and match her choker. A choker with gold detailing adds an additional chrome element to the outfit and balances the top and bottom together. Since both the shoes and choker have a touch of chrome gold and her nails and rings have silver touches, everything is balanced with the silver in the middle.
She is wearing a chic black leather cap and a pair of large round sunglasses to add an extra rough texture. The cardigan with its waterfall front, softens up the rest of the look. This is why her chrome nails are so spectacular. Just like the rest of her outfit, her nails are soft and edgy at the same time.
If you want to try doing your own chrome nails at home, you can now purchase chrome pigment powder that you buff into your nails. However, your nails should be gel nails in order for the pigment to adhere. From reading reviews, it is best to use a lamp cured gel nail, versus gel polish that does not require the lamp. If you’re really creative and brave, you can add some tape to your nails before applying the powder to recreate this Fashionista’s chevron pattern. To make them pop, wear a monochromatic outfit like all-black or all-white to feature the nails.
