Fall is a great time of year for makeup. People tend to cut back on their makeup in the summer because it is so hot and the sun beams down on your face, exposing all of those places we forgot to blend. Now that it is cooling off, we can take a trip to Sephora to start experimenting. Make sure you know what choices will go right for your skin tone and eye color. Many stores offer testing to match colors to your skin.
Today we will focus on the eyes. As a basic rule of thumb, if you have brown eyes you can try any colors to accentuate them, since they are very neutral. Blue-eyed women should be using natural tones and cool pinks. Green and hazel-eyed women should be using gold, purple, orange and brown colors to make their eyes pop. The look that this Fashionista used on her eyes works for her because the purple and gold in her eye shadow brings out her green eyes. It flowed together well as it did not clash with her outfit choice or her lip color. Remember, if you have a dramatic eye, keep the lip simple and vice versa. She chose to use a dark eyeliner on just the top to accentuate her upper lid but to not over do the look by keeping the lower lash line simple. It is up to you how dramatic you would like to go with eyeliner.
To create her look, you would start by priming your eyelid base to keep the color in place. Next, add a neutral matte base color to your full lid. Proceed by adding a dark-toned color to the crease of your lid in a windshield wiper motion to make your eye dimensional. Then, take a matte accent color and add it from the edge of your eye to the middle of your lid. Now, pick out a shimmering neutral tone and blend all of your lines together to the crease. Finally, you can pencil in your brow and highlight the underside with a cream colored shadow to give your brow strong definition. If you desire you can now add mascara and eyeliner. Keep these in coordinating colors with one another. If you want to create a winged look, draw an upward sloping checkmark on the outer edge of your eye to the edge of your brow and fill it in as you go.
What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To recreate this look, visit Sephora or Ulta. They sell brands such as Urban Decay, Smashbox and MAC. The Naked palletes from Urban Decay are perfect because they have a mix of mattes, neutrals, bold colors and shimmer. Make sure you have a fine tip brush and a blending brush to apply the colors properly. Benefit makes an eyeliner gel pencil in various colors to create smooth lines and winged edges. Bad Gal Lash by Benefit is among one of my favorite mascaras to use.
