Tousled curls and the perfect red lip; this look defines the classic beauty. Classic, by definition, means having lasting significance and worth. The translation in beauty language is: this look will never go out of style! It’s the one go-to look that will be admired anywhere and everywhere you go. It always comes off as effortless and easy, and with a few tips, it actually can be.
First, we will start with the hair. Beachy waves and natural curls are all the rage, and the way to get this look is super simple. If you can, try to avoid heat as much as possible because, after all, it’s summertime and easy, breezy is the vibe we’re going for. This is the time of the year to grow your hair out long, and the best way to do that is by keeping it healthy. Start by combing some natural Argan oil into your hair when you get out of the shower. This keeps the moisture locked into your follicles and will aide you later on in the easy part of the look.
The next step is to add some natural curl. If you have straight or wavy hair like me, I will loosely French braid my hair the night before and spritz a little curl enhancing spray on it before I sleep. Make sure that the braid is loose, so you don’t break hairs while you sleep. I use soft hair bands to keep it all in place without being too tight.
The next day, all you have to do is wake up and take it out. On a good day, that is literally all I need, but occasionally it will need a little encouraging, and I will use a small curling wand to touch up the top hairs or just the ends. Then, add some light hair spray and your do is set to look fabulous all day!
Makeup for this look is too simple. All you need is a little mascara on the top lashes for a girly wink and a killer red lipstick. I know it’s hard to find that favorite shade, but once you do, that lipstick will bring an instant confidence boost whenever you wear it. If you were feeling really retro ‘50s, I would also use a light dusting of a matte powder across your face to keep away the shine.
