As Elizabeth Taylor once said, “Put on some lipstick and pull yourself together.” Makeup can do wonders for a girl – it really is amazing how you can go from looking like you’ve only slept for two hours to a beauty queen in a matter of minutes. Of course, it is very possible to be naturally beautiful too, but there is something very impressive about the face of a girl with well-applied makeup.
For girls like me (whose makeup routine consists of very minimal products like mascara, lip gloss and sometimes eyeshadow), plenty of makeup tips are well appreciated. I called upon one of my classmates, Celene, who aspires to work within the realm of makeup and beauty after college for some easy tips and advice on what type of products are worth buying. Here is some of her advice!
According to Celene, there are different occasions where you will want to bring out certain color makeup products depending on your outfit or occasion. For an everyday look, research what colors would go well with your hair color, eye color and skin tone to instantly bring out your natural features. Personally, this Fashionista is a firm believer in quality primer, foundation and setting spray. From experience, she says that if you have quality face products, your look can last you all the way from before class in the morning to late at night when you want to go out with friends. The first thing she does when applying makeup is to put on the basics of foundation, concealer, powder eyebrows and mascara. In her opinion, it is always easy to add more makeup on top of these things if you decide to go for a more dramatic look with eye liner or eyeshadow.
As far as a recommendation of products goes, she states that sometimes there is definite difference in quality when it comes down to price. She personally prefers to invest in quality staple items such as eye shadows, primer and foundation, but as a college student on a budget finds that there are a lot of duplicate high end products at the drug store that are budget friendly and can be just as good of products. So, do your research, people!
