Summer heat sometimes feels like it can’t be beat when you’re sick of the ponytail and hair in your face won’t cut it. I find myself going to work with my hair completely down, but once I get one task in and I have no choice but to pull it back. And on a good hair day, are you kidding me? So how is one to show their long locks the love they deserve, but still manage to remain hands free from tucking loose strands back into place?
When I’m stuck trying to find an outfit that’ll complement an up-do, this week’s Fashionista takes to the streets in a look that says “I may be partial, but you don’t have to be.” Men have been getting a lot of credit lately for their (beautiful) “man buns.” But I think some of that attention should be refocused to what I like to refer to as the “babe buns” (and not the ones situated below your lower back). Partial up-dos, such as the partial bun featured on our Fashionista, provide a new take on old trends.
Pairing your outfit with a hair-do that’s half up/half down allows your hairstyle to be a continuation of what you’re wearing, without it getting in the way of your work. A full messy bun can sometimes appear unprofessional or as though little effort went into your appearance. A ballerina bun once again causes the problem of having your hair completely up for the fifth day this week. Either one of these buns in a partial up-do gives your hair the ability to show off the new conditioner you’ve been trying, without being made fun of for having the twitch known as the “hair flick.”
This Fashionista kept the colors of her outfit dark as she rocked out to the beat of her bun. A sheer black blouse and complementing shoes, split up by classic dark washed skinny jeans that gave the look an overall edgier appearance while still staying within professional margins.
What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? A look as simply stunning as this one can be completed with the twist of a hair-tie.
