Ballet has been getting more exposure lately but there has always been ballet inspired fashion on the runway and on the street. When one thinks of a ballerina you think of many things: the color pink, elegant, graceful, and so on. But ballerinas do not always coincide with their job description; a good amount of time is spent in clothing that melds their passion and personal style.
I found this Fashionista sitting by the fountain at Lincoln Center, the home of all things performing arts. She mentioned that she is a ballet dancer and that this was her usual off-duty outfit.
What caught my eye about this Fashionista what the melding of passion and personal style I previously mentioned. Her outfit combines her love of ballet with her own twist. I was attracted to the way she did her hair. She put her hair up like she would for dance class but left the other part of her hair down. This hairstyle has been getting a lot of attention lately and it’s perfect for summer if you’re debating leaving your hair up or down.
This half bun or samurai bun as some people call it is perfect if you’re looking to recreate a more relaxed look. And it looks perfectly summery and boho with some denim cut offs or a flowy dress.
What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? To complete this look it’s best to have textured hair and it’s especially perfect if you did not wash your hair the night before. To create slight waves and texture, comb a mousse or a spray through your hair. Lightly scrunch your hair and make a high, messy bun. Secure it with some elastics and even add a headband like this Fashionista did.
