Summer in Atlanta is no joke. The heat mixed with stiff gales of humidity make for some sleeveless, waist-showing, bare-legged fun in the sun. The warm weather requires an up-do but not just any up-do. This up-do has to go the extra mile to look fashionable and keep up with you while you’re running around campus. This is no laughing matter, ladies and gents, the perfect hairstyle is a necessity in this broiling, blistering weather.
In these conditions, it’s easy to want to create some new form of hairstyle to combat the sun. Luckily, Guido Palau and a bunch of other diligent women behind this season’s Marc by Marc Jacobs spring/summer 2015 have provided us with plenty of inspiration. With their twisted mini buns, also known as bantu knots, we’re able to continue looking cool and chic while keeping our hair up and out of our faces. This Fashionista got even more creative by dividing her hair into four sections before looping each section in order to bring about her own mini buns.
I’m all into honing natural beauty looks and showing off new hair trends. My usual go-to hairstyle when I don’t feel like doing my hair is one, big, loose bun that’s just plopped on my head. So, this up-do is exciting in the way that it’s good to see more innovation when it comes to everyday styling. I also think it adds a bit of a grungy vibe to the outfit, much like Rihanna’s look when she went to the iHeartRadio Music Awards last year and her feature in I.D. Magazine.
What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? To try this look you’ll need a thick, rat tail comb in order to separate your hair evenly. Start at the top and use hair ties to tie up your hair as you go along. Once your hair is in four ponytails, simply go back and loop each one around as if you were trying to make a regular bun. If it’s still a little loose or just not staying up, try some hairspray or a little gel. Then, voila, behold your mini buns!
