With the summer weather rapidly heating up, I find it to be harder and harder for me to resist the urge to just throw my hair up in a plain ponytail and call it a day. Letting my hair down in the heat seems like more of an annoyance than its worth. This time of year always has me searching for fun and new hair styles to try; particularly something that can keep me cool and comfortable, yet preserves a sense of style.
When I saw this Fashionista’s look, I was initially drawn to her outfit. The off the shoulder element of the forest green ombré shirt and the detailing on the lace shorts complemented each other very well. It wasn’t until I started photographing her look more closely that I noticed her hairstyle. The delicate double braids that loop together at the back of her head added such a unique element to her overall style. This look is both fun and functional; it keeps those pesky fly-aways under control in the summer heat AND it adds a stylish dynamic to any outfit.
This look can be created in about a minute, so its quick and easy to do so you can get on with your day. Just part your hair where you want and gather about a fistful of hair at the base of the part. Start by French braiding at the base of the part, then as you work your way towards the center of he back of your head, continue to braid normally. Temporarily clip the hair into place so you can repeat on the other side of your part. Once both braids are complete, bring them together with a small rubber band and voilá, you have a braid crown!
What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To complete this look, you’ll need tiny, clear rubber bands to unite the braids. You’ll also need some styling hair clips to hold the braid into place temporarily. And lastly, you will need any basic brush to clear out any knots before you start.
