As a new transplant to the Atlanta area, I’ve been on a constant hunt for style inspiration. After two unsuccessful days of scouting at the mall closest to my house, I ventured into a different part of the city, hoping to find someone to feature. As I have recently discovered, Little 5 Points is definitely a gem of the city. It is home to numerous funky clothing stores, bars, shops and restaurants that serve international cuisines. The streets are lined with artists of all varieties- people drawing, painting, playing live and selling mix-tapes. It’s a lovely district and I’ll definitely continue to frequent during my time in the city.
I found this week’s feature in a store called Rag-O-Rama that allows shoppers to buy, sell and trade clothing. Upon entering, I instantly spotted our Fashionista’s hair from afar; a soft shade of pink that commands attention without being too in-your-face. From the likes of Nicole Richie and Julianne Hough, who is also sporting pastel pink locks, pastel hair is definitely in. Funky colored hair is an awesome way to effortlessly and instantly amp up your look. Even your most casual days will have a little oomph.
Aside from her hair, everything else about this Fashionista was on point. Her outfit was boho-artisan done right! She looked super cute in her loose fitting, multi-patterned dress. She wore round, green sunglasses that were perfect for the summer sun. On her feet, she sported super comfy looking, footbed sandals, similar to Birkenstocks and perfect for walking along the city streets. She wore a bracelet, a few gold toned rings and a little anklet, as well.
A lovely finishing detail that she added to her outfit was a dress clip. For most of my life, I had no idea that these were a thing. It was only recently, while interning at a vintage store, that I learned about this accessory, which was popular from the 1920s until the ’50s. They come in all sorts of colors and styles, and are attached to the back of your dress to help pull in the waist and provide a more fitted look. Get one here!
What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? Want to recreate this look? I found an Etsy shop that has all sorts of cool, colored dyes, including lavender, pink and even gray. Love the look, but not ready to commit? For a more temporary switch, play up your coif with hair chalks or a fun wig.
