BEAUTY BAR: Smokin' Smokey Eye

This Fashionista’s smokey eye is the perfect summer shade. It’s not too dark and it’s not too light. The colors combine smoothly to make the perfect summer go-to makeup. It’s so easy too! Grab your favorite eyeshadow palette, eyeliner (liquid and/or pencil; both work best) and mascara. Start with a base color, usually a tan or light brown color just to start it off. Next, use your liquid eyeliner to draw a thin line from tip to tail along the eyelashes. Then you’ll want to pick a light gray color. Starting at the corner of your eye closest to your nose, brush a thin layer all the way to the other tip, emphasizing the crease of your eye, close to the eyelashes. Use a dark gray to shade in the outer portion of the eyelid, finishing the smokey look. Add eyeliner to the bottom of the eye, brush on some mascara and you’re done! Easy as pie.

This Fashionista said she wears this makeup everyday. She says that once you get used to it, it gets easier and easier. Try it out one day when you have tons of free time to experiment! This look works because it matches everything. It can be dressed up or dressed down and goes with whatever accessories you have. It frames the eyes very nicely and makes it easy to look elegant without much effort.  This Fashionista was headed to the park for some study time and paired her smokey eye with an oversized gray sweater, leggings and a pair of boots with a chunky heel. Her big, sparkly earrings accentuate the smokey eye even more, proving how well this makeup trend can be worn with anything and everything.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? All you need are three shades of eyeshadow (neutral, light gray and dark gray), some kind of eyeliner and mascara. So easy! Not sure what shades to use? Don’t worry—they make kits for that!
