BEAUTY BAR: Winter Skincare Heros

It’s January; the winter cheer has come and gone. There are no more decorations, holiday cheer, or Love Actually quotes to keep us happy. Winter has come and immersed us in all its glory, and if you’re like me that means one thing: dry skin. As if we didn’t have other things to worry about—our classes, social lives, and the new episodes of Girls—winter bestows us with parched skin screaming for hydration.

In order to achieve glowy J Lo-worthy skin in 15 degree weather, it is best to start with a cleanse. I like to use an oil cleanser in the winter to remove my makeup without stripping my skin. A good oil cleanser to try is No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Oil for normal/dry skin. Step two is a second or double cleanse. Since we want to remove dead dull skin, I would recommend using an exfoliating cleanser like Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser.

Now that your skin is clean and fresh, it is time to hydrate. My favorite way to hydrate is to use a facial oil. An oil like Pixi Rose Oil Blend will definitely hydrate and nourish your skin. While this next step is optional, well really this whole article is optional, but just listen—I highly recommend using a hydrating mask in order to really plump and soften your skin. A good hydrating mask would be Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask. This will give you that extra boost your skin needs during the week. Lastly you cannot forget about your lips. Usually a lip balm will do the trick on dry, chapped lips, but you might wanna reach for something with a bit more grit like Korres Lip Butter. Now that you’re hydrated and glowing for the gods, you’re ready to tackle winter and all it has to offer.
