CEO Glow

One moment everything is so easy, then life happens. You have so many responsibilities you never know how you will get everything done in one day. Starting off as a freshman in college you feel like you know exactly how college will be, but fast forward four years and your life has turned to be completely different for better and for worse. The feeling is similar to when you’re about to graduate college. You have so many plans of how you will conquer this world one goal at a time, not even realizing how to get there or how to be the woman you set out to be.

Media plays such a key role in these ambitions as well. From hit TV shows such as Girlboss and The Bold Type, they show you how you can pave a way for yourself. While you, sitting in your living room in pajamas eating leftovers wondering how you can be the driving force to make your life happen, these shows will leave you feeling like you can take on the world. Then again with social media, it’s so easy to get caught up in each milestone other people are reaching and every milestone you’re not reaching. News flash: social media won’t change your destiny, and neither will watching empowering feminist television shows (even though they are enjoyable). You are the only one that can do that. It’s hard to come to the realization that you already have the power to leave your mark on this world. So here are four steps I’ve learned to enhance your glow up and your journey to success.

1—Be fearless. Get out of your comfort zone. Push yourself to do things that scare you. I don’t know why, but now as a senior in college, the daunting task of networking scares me. As a communications major, that’s ironic, right? Putting yourself out there to be vulnerable for rejection is terrifying. Just remember: you never know, if you never try.

2—Be Olivia Pope and handle it. Now we can all fall victim to this thing we call procrastination. You have to put the work in and be relentless. You have to show through your work that you can talk the talk and walk the walk.

3—Be unapologetically yourself. No one else will ever be like you or have the talents you have. Your experiences, your thoughts, and your feelings set you apart from the person next to you and those characteristics will be what will propel you to the next level.

4—Just do it. You have to be your loudest cheerleader. Believe in yourself and know that no one else has your vision for your life. If you can block everyone else’s opinion, then you might see exactly what you’re capable of.

Now, what are you waiting for? Put on your favorite lipstick, grab a coffee, and go get your dream, girl!
