Marilyn Monroe once famously said, “Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she’ll conquer the world.” The iconic Hollywood actress couldn’t have been more right. Not only can a good pair of shoes complement an outfit, it can also tell a good story or two about the person wearing them. Beyond their physical appearance, shoes have the ability to make a person feel a wide variety of emotions, ultimately giving him or her the confidence and capabilities to “conquer the world.”
I decided to ask a couple of Style Gurus if they could share a “shoefie” (the footwear version of the “selfie”) of their most favorite pair of shoes. To go along with their “shoefie” the Style Gurus also shared why these shoes were so important to them. From sneakers to glittery boots, the “shoefies” show off the diverse styles and personalities of these rad Style Gurus so read on to see if any could be your favorite too!

“I love the detail on these shoes. From the laces to the beading, they are the center of attention of any outfit. Plus, they’re super comfortable!”
Peyton Roy, University of Washington
“These are my favorite shoes because I love the contrast in the two colors and they’re a statement piece that can also be downplayed for a more subtle look. They’re also very comfortable even with the short heel!”
Emily Gebler, Kansas State University
“These shoes are one of my favorite pairs right now. I purchased them at Wet Seal. I just love that they are completely sparkly and they are a great add on to a dressed up outfit, or even a way to add some glitz to a more dressed down outfit. I am also just obsessed with the clear heel look.”
Venesa Coger, University of Bridgeport
“Adidas Neo Courtset sneakers are super comfortable and stylish. I love that they are pink and the fabric is suede. These give my street style look more edge, especially when I’m wearing distressed denim.”
Linda Thao, Macomb Community College
“This shoe is my go-to when I don’t know what shoe to wear. When you put these on, it definitely changes how an outfit looks overall. That’s what I like about it. As you can tell, these sneakers have gone through a lot of travel with me.”
