At the risk of sounding like any stereotypical fashion writer: you literally can’t have too many shoes. It’s a fact that footwear is essential and variety is key. Fall and winter weather mean worrying about comfort, warmth and style all at once—having options for the changing seasons and different events is always important.
Students at the University of Toronto campus walk long distances in style, and sometimes in the snow. The shoes that caught my eye were a mixture of new and vintage, with classic brands and on-trend styles. All of them managed to make comfort work with their cold-weather kicks. Check out how they are varying their seasonal looks with different types of sneakers and, of course, boots this fall.
1—“I may have stolen my shoe inspiration from Kendall Jenner’s Instagram; fishnet socks have been a cool way to add texture to my outfits this fall. I’ve been wearing them with boots and running shoes under rolled-up boyfriend jeans.”
2—“I really loved the high-ankle boot style when I first saw it and had to have a pair of my own. They’re really sleek and look great with jeans, leggings or even dresses with tights. The only downside is that they are a bit of a challenge to walk in, but what pair of shoes doesn’t require some breaking in?”
3—“These are totally the wedges by TOMS shoes. They are so comfortable and look like any other pair of suede wedges you would find at stores like Zara and ALDO. They’ve been great to add a heel to my outfits without being uncomfortable.”
4—“Blundstones are my winter staple, they’re weather-proof and so warm. They look really cute with cropped pants, plus they are perfect for biking around the city.”
5—“I wear these boots nearly all the time and all throughout the fall and winter. I love wearing them with light denim for my go-to look.”
