After a hectic and wild first quarter at the University of Washington, I seriously needed to unwind with a family vacation. While visiting and doing some productive shopping in the vibrant country of Taiwan, I definitely noticed some unique fashion trends here and there that you don’t really see in America (or at least in Seattle). To be honest, most of the styles seemed to be inspired from Korean looks but nevertheless, they’re still much different than American trends.
In the midst of irregular weather with bouts of sunshine or high winds, this Fashionista created a perfect look that could be worn in either climate. She rocks a very edgy outfit that’s created by her hoop earrings, Vans sneakers, and the all-black iconic look. But the staple piece for her outfit is the high-waisted culottes overalls. The brown, leather straps add a pop of color into her outfit and really make the overalls stand out. If the overalls are too daring for your style, you could style a long sleeve tee with some culottes trousers, as culottes are making their way into the fashion arena. What’s even more convenient about this look is that you could add some color through your accessories, class it up with some mules (a personal favorite of mine), or pair it with a turtleneck if you live in a colder city.
Culottes trousers were such a big thing in Taiwan, I even bought myself a pair! They’re slowly being introduced through stores like Zara and Anthropologie so I really hope I see some more Fashionistas on campus rocking these bottoms. While the weather in Taiwan was warm and sunny, I have to prepare myself to brave the cold in Washington for the next couple of months as I begin my second quarter in college. Wish me luck!
